Apophyllite is a beautiful crystal that is an excellent tool for cleansing energy. Its white and translucent shades remind us of clear quartz, but the energy and texture of the crystals are different. Apophyllite crystals often have striations that run vertically along the points of the crystal, as opposed to horizontally, as is often the case with clear quartz. Apophyllite is a phyllosilicate. The word apophyllite comes from Creek; the first part, apo, means: away from or off while phyllon in this context means leaf. Which in turn means that this crystal sheds its “layers” when exposed to high temperatures, like a tree sheds its leaves.
